BEANS!
BEANS! Is a half-improvised/half-scripted two-woman show starring Maria Blasucci and Amanda Lund. BEANS! performs monthly to packed houses at iO West in Hollywood and the Westside Comedy Theatre in Santa Monica.
Hollywood, CA June 7, 2010 — Maria Blasucci and Amanda Lund are starring in “BEANS!” the highly popular two-woman show. The part-scripted, part-improvised production has two performances at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. BEANS! performs in the iO West Loft on June 18th at 10pm and in the iO West Andy Dick Theatre on June 26th at 9pm. Admission to both shows is free. Tickets can be reserved at hollywoodfringe.org.
Maria Blasucci and Amanda Lund recently graduated from Loyola Marymount University with B.A.s in Theatre Arts. After meeting during the school’s production of Picasso at the Lapin Agile where both had lead roles, the girls began writing and performing their own material. Both Amanda and Maria have performed at the Del Close Marathon in New York, the Los Angeles Improv Festival and the Chicago Improv Festival.
The two co-wrote and starred in the web series “Little Mysteries” which after thousands of views has gained rave reviews on youtube.com. After having almost 100,000 views, “Amanda Has A Gun” was taken off the internet by a group of gun owners who started a revolt against the episode on their internet blog. It has since been reposted.
The girls also hosted the live-streaming internet talk show “Late Night Lemonade” on TheStream.tv where they interviewed such guests as actor Jason Ritter and “Modern Family” producer/director Jason Weiner. The show taped live weekly for over a year until its end in March of this year.
Both natives of Southern California, Maria Blasucci and Amanda Lund have been studying theatre at some of the most prestigious acting schools in the country including the Lee Strasberg Institute at NYU Tisch where Maria spent her junior year of college studying theatre. Amanda and Maria both began taking improv classes at iO West in the summer of 2007 and started the group BEANS! in 2009.
The two girls have more than proven themselves as a noteworthy duo in a comedy world heavily dominated by men. BEANS! is known as a comedic show that is heavily rooted in drama and truth. The ever-changing characters are grounded in reality, which connects the audience in a way that lets them laugh at even the simplest of situations.
