Betty who?
Miss Betty Hutton and her explosive songs took the screen by storm in the ‘40s and is most remembered as the lead in the film “Annie Get Your Gun”. Bob Hope said she was “A vitamin pill with legs.” She worked with all the greats and became Paramount Picture’s #1 star, even getting top billing over Fred Astair. She and Harpo Marx taught Lucille Ball comedy, she worked along side Cecile B. Demille and out-sold Judy Garland. But, like Judy, she fell down the same path of drugs and despair.
When the bottom fell out of her turbulent life she vanished from the public eye and was found ten years later scrubbing floors in a monastery. Now Hollywood can finally welcome Betty back home.

Who could play such a role?
Bringing her to life again is Kellydawn Malloy, a seasoned performer who has been singing Betty songs since she was a child. She has all the verve and explosive presence as Betty, in addition to sharing a similarly painful past, which makes the connection and her desire to tell the story even stronger.
Kellydawn considers this her dream role. “Betty is my idol. To show her to the world again is a dream come true.”

Who’s idea was this?
Shelby Bond, the author of the play, has been writing and performing shows at Fringes all over the world for a decade now. His shows have been “Best of Fringe” and complete sell-outs in Edinburgh, Australia, and across Canada.
“My grandmother introduced me to Betty Hutton when I was a child and I fell in love with her over-the-top energy. When I first met Kellydawn I knew she was the only person who could capture and portray that rare quality that is Betty Hutton.”
