The workshop will be led by a panel of past participants and veteran community members who can offer you an insider perspective of what to expect in JUNE! This workshop will walk you through the festival experience from people who have navigated it with great success. 

Looking to engage fully with the community, get the most out of your Fringe experience, and maybe even take home an award? This is a must-attend!!

INTRODUCING THE BRILLIANT PANELISTS

Jen Albert (she/her) 

Jen Albert is an Actor, Producer, Intimacy Coordinator and an award-winning Fight Choreographer whose work can be seen all over Los Angeles stages and in film and TV. She has been participating in the Fringe festival since 2015 and is the Managing Director of the School of Night, whose last production, Battlesong of Boudica garnered a Best Drama award at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. 

Bonnie He (she/her) 

Bonnie He is a multi-award winning clown and theater producer. Her solo clown show, A Terrible Show for Terrible People, won Best Comedy at the 2022 Hollywood Fringe Festival and sold out its entire 23-show run at the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe. This summer, A Terrible Show will be touring in the UK in London and Cardiff. Bonnie is honored to be back at Hollywood Fringe this year to produce Recolonizers, a political satire about making America AMERICA again.

Mélia Mills (she/her) 

Mélia Mills is an Oakland, CA native. She graduated from UCLA (BA, Theater Arts) and is a Writer, Comedian, Actress, and Rapper. She created, wrote, produced, directed, and acted in her ensemble piece, JUNETEENTH- An Emancipation Celebration! to a sold-out crowd at UCB. She was a writer and performer on UCB’s House Team, CHARACTERS WELCOME.

Mélia won a scholarship from the HOLLYWOOD FRINGE FESTIVAL and performed her show, THE ALLURE OF THUG LIFE to sold-out audiences. The LA TIMES named it one of the TOP 10 SHOWS to see at Fringe! THE ALLURE OF THUG LIFE won BEST MUSICAL, THE ELLA TURENNE AWARD, PICK OF THE FRINGE and THE HOLLYWOOD PRODUCER’S ENCORE AWARD.

Most recently, Mélia toured her show in the Bay Area at the prestigious Marsh Theater. She enjoyed five weeks of sold out shows and standing O’s. The Allure of Thug Life was then extended an additional month and is in high demand to return again!

Rebecca O’Brien (she/her) 

Rebecca O’Brien is the recipient the Los Angeles Drama Critic Circle’s Natalie Schafer Award for Emerging Comic Actress, an LA Weekly Award nominee twice-for Best Comedic Performance and -for Best Supporting Actress. Her favorite TV credit is NBC’s Up All Night working with Megan Mullally, Christina Applegate and Maya Rudolph was a dream come true! As well as NBC’s Kath and Kim with Molly Shannon and Selma Blair. She has performed many times in LA: The Laugh Factory, The Comedy Store, The Tiffany,  The Court, Stella Adler, The Fountain Theatre, Company of Angels, Gardner Stages, Egyptian Arena, Working Stage, ZJU, Elephant Asylum, Sacred Fools, Third Stage, The Zephyr, The Lillian, The Flight theatre at The Complex Theatre and over 20 times with Theatre Neo in The Hudson. Rebecca is an award winning Toast Master Humorous and International speech contests. Rebecca is a member of Theatre Neo, Toast Masters, Fierce Backbone, Naked Angels, We Make Movie and the WPA. Rebecca is very grateful to her many friends and family who made this Getting There! actually be in #hff23! So exciting to get to work with Cameron Watson as my director in Fringe. And I must add that I am a very blessed woman to have my life and I am grateful every day to be here!
