We see the reserved and calculating Alfred Hitchcock butt heads with the erratic goofball Mel Brooks. It’s an exciting match of opposites, even more exciting when we learn that Hitchcock’s demeanor is a defense mechanism for the intense guilt he feels for his wrong-doing and Brooks is dealing with unnecessary guilt over imagined wrongdoings. Making serious art doesn’t make one virtuous and making frivolous art doesn’t make one a villain.
What I didn't like
The first act is slow, but. stick with it as it ramps up as we come to understand the author’s thesis.
