A Bella Incarceration is storytelling at its best. Ann Noble takes on the journey of Bella with consummate elegance using quotes from writers Emma Goldman, Dorothy Day and Nellie Bly. I had no expectations and was left standing at the end of such a delicate work. In the words of Nellie Bly- "I have never written a word that did not come from my heart", the same can be said in regards to Ann Noble's writing of A Bella Incarceration. What a great show! Ann does a marvelous job incorporating excellent storytelling with great acting, clowning, and even dance, to tell a timeless tale of protest, imprisonment and the desire for freedom and self determination. Along the way she incorporates the experiences of admirable activists like Dorothy Day. All this is done with a humor and poignancy that speaks to us all. ... full review

A Bella Incarceration snuck up on me in the best way. Bitingly hilarious thanks to the ingenious work of Ann Noble as the rebellious Bella, there's also a very moving core. This switch is handled so effortlessly and thoughtfully, I found myself tearing up just after busting a gut laughing. Definitely one of the best you'll see at Fringe.... full review
