“Girls Together Always” has tight writing, diverse characters, excellent performers and the stories were funny, moving, and the right length of time — everything I look for in an evening of monologues. Some of the stories reminded me of the expert storytelling on The Moth…
What I didn't like
Frankly I didn’t dislike anything….Except the story about the old dog, but that was my own bias because I lost my precious dog and it was painful to listen to….even though it was beautifully delivered. (It was painful because it was so real).
My overall impression
I love monologue-based shows and found this piece to be among my favorites. The ensemble was wonderful and Marcie Maxfield describes her reason for writing “Girls Together” as “these stories needed to be set free…” I’m glad she listened to that inner voice…not only has she set them free, but she let them soar…I want to hear more stories from her.
