What I liked

I had the pleasure of watching some of the musical numbers from this show while it was in development, so I was very much looking forward to seeing it all come together in a full production. I enjoyed the show. The writing is very clever and entertaining throughout, the music and lyrics are terrific, the choreography is extremely well done and fun to watch, the story line is engaging with some unexpected surprises, and there are some terrific singers in the cast. Also, the subject matter is something I’ve never seen before in a play. Another treat is the variety of musical styles that are presented in the show. In the singing and dancing, the show has modern Broadway style numbers, a 40’s type Boogie-Woogie, a 50’s style number reminiscent of South Pacific, a 60’s show stopper in the vein of Jesus Christ Superstar or Tommy, and a few other styles sprinkled in, including some rap! Congrats to choreographer Michelle Loucadoux for most of that. No matter what type of musical you enjoy, you’ll find a piece of it in this show, all with a very current and topical social theme. I recommend seeing it!

What I didn't like

On the night I saw it, there were technical issues that made some of the vocals hard to hear. At times the music was too loud for the voices. I’m sure these issues will be ironed out as the show continues its run.

My overall impression

A unique, original musical play with a very engaging modern theme and an entertaining variety of singing and dancing styles.
