The dialogue was snappy and funny. I got a good sense of each character’s personality within a few lines of them speaking. Lead actors Chris Tedrow and Roz Stanley nailed the roles of Jack Beck and Dorothy Parker.
What I didn't like
The rest of the male members of the Algonquin Round Table were uninspiring, and fell a little flat when comparing them to Jack and Dorothy. A few of the transitions could have been a little quicker/cleaner.
My overall impression
Funny, witty, and charming performance! I particularly enjoyed the fast paced dialogue. Quick one-liners are interwoven with clever puns that take a few seconds to digest. For a dialogue-heavy play about humor and wit, it’s going to live or die based on the actors’ abilities to portray the wordsmiths they are playing. The cast of Algonquin absolutely delivers on that front. The banter between Jack Beck and Dorothy Parker is the highlight of the show, and you’ll get plenty of it.
