Review by TONY FRANKEL

June 21, 2017 stage and cinema

What I liked

Bruno Oliver grandstanding and commanding the stage as Domingo, a philosophical pomposity who seeks to challenge perception, and uber-expressive Jeff Blumberg as Lucky, Domingo’s manservant who is more a bonded slave. I really liked the satiric nod to music stars (oh, those poor misunderstood millionaires!), and the salute to Mr. Beckett.

What I didn't like

I get that this is Fringe, but I think this could have been even smarter. Could use a little more dialogue like Beckett’s — and real pizza. Hearing about it over and over was criminal to the stoned, I mean, hungry patrons.

My overall impression

You don’t have to be up on either “Waiting for Godot” or U2 to get that this is basically a silly spoof mash-up of both Theatre of the Absurd and our celebrity obsessed culture. Good, clean fun that still could use some more serious writing – ANY silly gets wearying without a story.
