What I liked
I thoroughly enjoyed the acting work on these various characters, all unique and vastly different people. First impressions go a long way, and coming into the theatre and seeing a glowing red circle certainly set a tone. The ambient projections used for transitions between these worlds were meditative and lets not forget all that GORGEOUS ORIGINAL ART WORK!! This performer is exceptionally talented!
What I didn't like
If I’m being honest, I felt some of the transitions felt rushed and the piece, overall, felt a little long (a bit of editing might have helped smooth out some of the rough edges).
My overall impression
Inspirational showcase of how strong the human spirit can be in spite of the unimaginable! With a blending of the courageous, the devastating, the humorous, the religious, Mariela Castillo’s solo show was indeed, one worth journey this audience member enjoyed being transported on. The overall messaging about when one rotten apple is able to be planted, my… the things it is able to do was spot on glorious!
