After a very successful European tour, the award-winning one woman show Love Me…AMERICA! by Claudia Motea and AL.G.Croitoru, arrives in the States, at the Fringe, for its American premiere.
This play is a great marriage of theater and film that presents the fascinating story of a Romanian actress, Stella, who, just arriving to perform on Broadway, falls in love with New York City and decides to immigrate to the new land.
The multi award-winning Romanian-Canadian actress Claudia Motea expertly interprets eight characters between the ages of 25 to 80. Stella, the main heroine, interacts with seven other characters on the screen: Mom, Grandma, Nely G.-the prostitute, Paraschiva, Black Tulip-the gypsy woman, the Duchess and Linda. She sings and dances in a night club, becomes a guardian angel in Linda’s house, eats stars with her American lover, and basically lives the life of an immigrant whose key words are: visa, green card, immigration, freedom, job, love, hope, happiness and self-esteem.
The play captures the public’s hearts also through the unique directing vision elaborated beautifully by “Maestro” AL.G. Croitoru, an important personality of the Romanian Cinema.
By the end of the play everyone will find a little of themselves in Stella’s American Dream and will know why, in the media, Claudia Motea is called the Giulietta Masina of our time.
