Sydney Fringe has a bold vision to be celebrated as one of the world’s leading Fringe festivals and we are well on our way! Each September emerging artists and culture creators from all over the city join forces with us to share Sydney’s stories, presenting new work from all genres. Outside of festival time the Sydney Fringe works with public and private sector partners to activate unused space, drive policy and regulatory reform and advocate for independent artists to build a vibrant and sustainable arts, culture and creative industries sector.

ELLA TURENNE AWARD
The Ella Turenne Award, presented by the independent Hollywood Fringe Access Advisory Board, honors treasured Hollywood Fringe community member, Ella Turenne, and her belief that Fringe is for everyone. With this dedication, we hope to uplift and encourage Black and BIPOC creators to share their experiences through theater at the Fringe.
The Hollywood Fringe Access Advisory Board is made up of past participants, staff and board members who take a look at current equity standards to help set goals for the Hollywood Fringe organization & community. This award was chosen by the participants of this committee, and outside voices from the Fringe artist base, not Hollywood Fringe staff and board members.
In 2020, Ella became a founding member of the Hollywood Fringe Access Advisory Board. Ella dedicated countless hours working alongside HFF while advocating for marginalized artists’ exposure. Ella’s impact on the Hollywood Fringe can be seen throughout the festival. Her legacy continues to touch our community as well as those she inspired.
Just like Ella herself, the Ella Turenne Award highlights artists who demonstrate leadership and inclusion at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. These contributions add to the experience and culture of Black and BIPOC individuals and communities.

JAXX CULTURAL ARTS ENVOY AWARD
Jaxx is a Cultural Arts Envoy contracted by the US State Department to produce theatre with US Embassies around the world. This award aims to recognize excellence in the theatre that depicts this definition of “culture”: “The arts, beliefs, customs, institutions, and other products of human work and thought considered as a unit, especially with regard to a particular time or social group.”
LOUD KARMA EMERGING FEMALE AND NONBINARY PLAYWRIGHT AWARD
Loud Karma Productions was created because women and nonbinary playwrights deserve to have their voices heard. We are dedicated to producing works of emerging and marginalized artists who find themselves overlooked for reasons that have nothing to do with their talent. Our mission is to support emerging women artists and artists of any gender who are marginalized because of age, disability, gender, or ethnicity. We support the LGBTQ+ community, POC, and are an ally business.
It is no secret that female and nonbinary playwrights are underrepresented in theatres across the US and internationally. In a study released by the AAPAC, in a recent Broadway season, 86 percent of the produced playwrights were white males. Women and nonbinary voices are woefully underrepresented in spite of the amazing, groundbreaking, and vital work they are creating.
It is the goal of Loud Karma Productions to celebrate and recognize emerging female and nonbinary playwrights. We hope to provide chances for these deserving women and nonbinary writers to have opportunities—both in experience and support—to continue to grow and to take their careers as playwrights to the next level.
SOARING SOLO SOCIAL IMPACT AWARD
The Soaring Solo SOCIAL IMPACT Award will be given on behalf of the Soaring Solo Community which is a diverse collection of Solo Artists from all over the globe. As a committee we will be looking for a One Person Play that displays excellence in Solo Theatre while possessing a message that makes deeply needed, positive, and transformative social impact. We encourage submissions from BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, disabled artists, and different perspectives from ethnic, cultural, and racial backgrounds. We also encourage anyone who has a solo story to share that aims to impact and improve the state of our world. This award came into manifestation out of strong desire to champion Solo Artists whose Solo Art inspires, encourages, and enriches the theater community and far beyond.
SOHO PLAYHOUSE’S INTERNATIONAL FRINGE ENCORE SERIES
Winners will be selected to bring their productions for an Off-Broadway run at SoHo Playhouse in NYC.
STAGECRAFTS SELECT AWARD
The StageCrafts is founded by Jenn and Greg Crafts, Fringe veterans who have produced every year at Fringe since its inception in 2010. In 2017 Jenn and Greg founded The StageCrafts, a venue management company that provides not only venues but mentorship to new and returning Fringe producers. Since 2017 The StageCrafts have hosted over 500 individual Fringe performances on their stages. The StageCrafts Select Award highlights one show in each of the StageCrafts venues that displays artistic excellence and embodies the Fringe spirit of community, collaboration and kindness.
THEATRE THEATER PLAYWRIGHT AWARD
Theatre Theater is an LA based podcast hosted by three members of the LA Theatre scene. Though the format has shifted and changed over the years, we often discuss, debate and disseminate the works of the great playwrights by taking a macro look at their careers. As connoisseurs of script analysis and development, we would like to present this award to a writer who we believe has the potential to be listed among the great playwrights. Therefore this award is to be presented to the playwright that we believe has the most potential for forward movement in the industry.

THE NO ROOM IN THE GREEN ROOM AWARD
MB Stage Productions, LLC has a nasty habit of producing shows with large casts. With our history, we know that juggling rehearsal conflicts, production needs, and the drama that comes with producing live theatre is no easy task!
