A fun, light comedy, though not without substance. A great choice for those looking to get outside their comfort zone and see something they don’t see every day!... full review

Strong.

Beautiful performances by both actresses and a relatable and important topic. I think the general dialogue was well done, but if you continue to produce it after fringe, which I hope you do, I'd suggest a restructure- maybe a deviation from the linear storyline, or at least a big focus shift so that you tell the most interesting and important part of the story- to me this isn't the story of two bffs and one gets sick- it's the story of how the person who should've have rolled with the situation w... full review

Anxiety Written

This was one of my five nominees for my sponsored award- the Conversation Creation award, sponsored by That's What She Didn't Say and The Outdoor Voices Festival. Jessica is an expert storyteller- likable and vibrant. The writing is impeccable with a lovely beginning, middle, and end, structured expertly to give us a little more theatrical oomph than many solo shows that read like ted talks or just long storytelling shows. The pacing is perfect, the amount of characterizations and they way th... full review

STILL

Sometimes you see a show and you have a brief, but intense emotional experience in the theatre and that's great. While I definitely felt the emotions during the show, I'm going to be thinking about this show for years and I think others will as well. I only wish I had a chance to see this one again! Out of 100+ submissions for folks who wanted to be considered for the award I was giving out, this show moved to the top of the list based mostly on the line from the script it included in it's m... full review

My Calico Soul

Steve is engaging, thoughtful, and powerfully vulnerable- he's lovely to watch and listen to and his voice is fabulous. His story is important and well told. I think the piece is still finding out what it is- I think it could have actually done without most if not all of the shifts into conversation- those can be funny and great in a show, but here it felt like a lot of them were there serving a purpose to break up the storytelling instead of belonging in the flow of the performance- when you ha... full review

Will You Accept This Rose? The Bachelor Parody Musical

bonnie sludikoff · June 23, 2018 uncertified reviewer
As someone who has seen an embarrassing amount of episodes of the bachelor/bachelorette I can tell you this musical is spot on. I appreciated the ways the show commented on the realities of the series from the fact that the people are shown on fancy dinners and they're not allowed to eat the food- the overnight rose ceremonies, and the lack of casting anyone other than a bunch of white people... I think a lot of really good points are shown and I wish the show went even further showing that point... full review

What Went Wrong

What Went Wrong? More like, What Went Right! I really loved this experience and I wish it was longer. I had never used a VR device ( except maybe once as a teen to play a video game?) and it was a cool way to experience theatre. Great job by the actors- the experience is immersive from the moment you step up to the table to the very end. This would be a fun thing to attend with a friend as well! I hope to see more from these guys!! ... full review

Laertes Loves Hamlet Loves Ophelia

Fresh. Funny. Heart-breaking. Engaging. A real think piece. I love what these guys do as playwrights and actors. The work is intelligent, but not snobby. The piece is wonderfully portable- not in a bad way -and I hate to call the show "fringy" but something really well done here is creating a show that falls under an hour (without feeling incomplete), can be unpacked with props and set pieces in under 15 minutes, but still look professional.... I remember in the same team's piece last year th... full review

THE GRAY

bonnie sludikoff · June 19, 2018 certified reviewer
As important as the show is the fact that most of the cast and production team are young people. This isn't going to be the best acting Oscar-winning performance of fringe, but instead it's a worthy production, deserving of praise for its willingness to dive into an important topic. I was proud to watch all the young people involved- and especially to see the cast include so many guys. The show is quick and efficient- it's educational but not in your face. I love the talk-back aspect a... full review

CONVERTED

bonnie sludikoff · June 19, 2018 certified reviewer
The topic of this show is incredibly important and under-discussed- I love the idea of this show. I really like the device used to switch between fantasy and reality, but the whole production seemed to be geared toward sketch-like comedy... that's great- and it was laugh-out-loud funny at times, but then the show would suddenly be in an unearned deep moment... the whole thing sort of felt like having a conversation with a friend who hadn't dealt with their feelings on a topic- they're laughing... full review
