Andrew Amani

Andrew Amani draws influence from historical greats like Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Buster Keaton and Bruce Lee to the modern day icons like Johnny Depp, Gary Oldman, Bill Irwin and Jackie Chan. While a Theater Acting Major at Columbia College Chicago, he minored in Dance and Movement. Mr. Amani is an award winning Choreographer, Actor, Dancer, Stage Combatant and Athlete. He has received the Ovation Honors Award & LA Weekly Theater Awards for “Best Fight Choreography” for Theatre of Note’s “Hearts Like Fists”, 2 LA Weekly Theater Awards for Best Production Design: Stunt & Fight Choreography and Production of the Year Award: Stunt & Fight Choreography, nominated for an LA Weekly Theater Award for Sacred Fool’s “Watson”, received a Joseph Jefferson Citation for “Best Ensemble” in Defiant Theatre’s “Action Movie: The Play” and nominated for “Best Ensemble” with Redmoon Theater’s “Hunchback”. Other accolades include Winner of The Camel Caravan Lindy Hop Dance Championships, Founder’s Award for Best Unarmed Fight and Examiner’s Awards for Excellence in Unarmed, Rapier & Dagger and Broadsword bestowed by the Society of American Fight Directors, numerous men’s 2-on-2 professional beach volleyball championships, and a gold medal in ice hockey at the 1986 Asian Games. Highlights of his stage work in Chicago include working with: Trap Door Theater; Redmoon Theater; Plasticene Physical Theater Company; Defiant Theatre, Factory Theatre, Lyric Opera w/Mary Zimmerman. In California, he worked with Diavolo, Pirate’s Dinner Adventure, Theatricum Botanicum, Boston Court, LA Opera, Disneyland, San Diego Opera, Theatre of Note, Halloween Stuntacular. He is a current member of American Russian Theatre Ensemble Laboratory (ARTEL) and Schkapf.
