Take Me As I Am: A Joni Mitchell Tribute

Rainee Blake's portrayal of Joni Mitchell was amazing in its authenticity and offered a quiet respite from the craziness that is Fringe. It was like stepping back in time, entering a small club on the Sunset Strip below Laurel Canyon where Joni called home. A totally relaxing way to enjoy a drink and experience what the folk singers of the 60s were really like. ... full review

Les Millénniables

Although I am a "boomer' I can still appreciate the struggles of those millennials now finding the reality of living a financially stable life, given the job market, an impossible task. This musical. loosely based on the Les Mis characters, had me laughing from start to finish. I loved the idea of Javert being a bill collector, not able to collect a cent while Jean Valjean remains in school. So she (yes Valjean is female) goes about collecting degree after degree, but never able to get a job. A p... full review

The Collective: A 1920s Mafia Immersive Experience

Definitely my favorite Fringe show this year - so much so, I went to see it twice. Loved immersing myself into the action and getting to roam among the entire cast, speaking to all to gather clues about what happened to the Don during his Wake. I spent a lot of time assisting Wil, the detective hired to find out exactly who killed the Don. No two shows will be the same as different clues are given away, leasing to different people being guilty. The fun is in trying to figure it out. Oh, and be su... full review

The Portable Dorothy Parker

While I knew about Dorothy Parker prior to seeing this solo performance, I learned more about her during this play than I ever knew before. Deeply researched and authentically performed, each tidbit shared opened up the world to me about this famed critic, write, and famous Round Table at the Algonquin Hotel attendee in the glorious days of early celebrity culture in New York.... full review

Grown Up Orphan Annie

An intriguing, thoughtful and comical look at what the childhood of Little Orphan Annie was like growing up with Daddy Warbucks on the occasion of his funeral. Under the comedy, there was both sarcasm and acceptance of the past while looking forward to moving on.... full review

Jolly Playtime

I have always been a fan of improv, and Jace and Molly are experts at it, portraying two young kids who are dropped off at daycare and are looking to have some fun with everyone else there (the audience). Especially entertaining was the inclusion of audience members pulled up onstage to participate and everyone’s willingness to do so. (I became known as the Dancing Russian Spy and will proudly wear that badge throughout Fringe!) Every show is guaranteed to be different given what suggestions are ... full review

Rhythm Delivered

Astounding performances by the cast of 6 who each dance and drum up a storm of excitement while using ordinary items to great effect. Ever danced on bubble wrap? Drummed on a Home Depot bucket? Be prepared to be surprised at what gets pulled out of boxes and then becomes part of the show. I especially enjoyed the electronic creation of music made up of noises from the cast and words from the audience, then choregraphed into a great tap number! Great fun for audiences of all ages!... full review

This play about two roommates from very different backgrounds provides insight into both the LGBQT and Black perspectives on our society and how both deal with fitting in. Very insightful character development as we learn about their personal histories that have influenced how they deal with each other. ... full review

YONIVERSE (formerly: YONI KI KAHANIYA)

This talented ensemble shared stories of their personal experiences growing up as South Asian American women with movement well directed by Marianne Davis. With each being raised in different parts of the world, be it in America or elsewhere, as their stories were told you really got a sense of their identities as well as how all women should look at their bodies without shame. I was really impressed at their level of interaction while using beautiful scarves as props, especially since one of th... full review
